Sadhvi Loves Indian Sitar Music

It’s Tuesday morning, and I needed to hear some good music before starting my day. When I have a lot on my plate, I like to imagine that I become connected to all the gods and goddesses in India when I listen to the sitar. And one of of my favorite sitar players is Anoushka Shankar. There is something that is so soothing about hearing her play sitar. She’s the daughter of Ravi Shankar, and yeah, she is amazing, like her father.

Here’s a clip of her below performing last year in Spain. If you can take a little break and watch her play, you too shall be touched.

About Sadhvi

Sadhvi's trying to find the balance in life over 50 without having any surgery, taking any pills, or killing anyone. She doesn't want to look or feel the way she felt when she was 20 or 30. Trusting that everything is really OK unless you think about it helps her make it through each day. Also realizing that nothing can be done, and, that nothing matters really helps. Gardening (and weeding), poppies and flowers, painting on things, baking, and sharing on Oops50 helps to make it all right too.

  1. Pam, Yes, I wasn’t sure if Anoushka’s father, the one and only Ravi Shankar, was still around. But when I did the post, I saw that he just gave a concert. We are truly blessed to have such wondrous musicians!

  2. Thank you!!! Anoushka is indeed amazing like her father who I saw at a 3-day India music festival in LA back in 1990 when he was celebrating his 70th birthday. Truly incredible. And though I know he is slowing down a bit, I think he was still performing not too long ago. There’s a YouTube video of a bit of concert with Anoushka in Sydney Australia in 2010 when he was 90!
A wonderful way to start the day!
    Many Blessings.
